A Few Thoughts from Marilyn Meberg
Finally, I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide my guilt. I said to myself, “I will confess my rebellion to the Lord.” And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone. —Psalm 32:5
The moment you made the decision to begin a personal relationship* with God through His Son, Jesus, He came into your life. Now that you have made the decision of a lifetime, know that God will never back out of His agreement with you.
Jesus will never decide you had more sin than He could die for.
You will never lose your status as His treasure.
Talk to God: Prayer is the key to accessing the power of the Holy Spirit within you. How do you do it? You open your mouth and use your words. You open your heart and reveal your concern. You unite with the Spirit in the knowledge He will answer you. That is prayer. Prayer is talking to God.
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. —Philippians 4:6-7
Read Your Message: The Bible is God’s voice speaking a message of passionate love to each of us. (He is exceedingly passionate about His creation!) So where do you start? I suggest you begin with the first four books in the New Testament (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) because there you get a great picture of who Jesus is, what He said, what He did, and why He did it.
Learn Together: I strongly urge you to get involved in a group Bible study. As you study together, share together, and pray together, you will develop a bond and grow in your understanding of what it means to be a Christian and what it means to be the passionate focus of God’s love.
You Are Loved!
*If you have not yet begun that relationship, you can do it right now! Here’s what you need to know:
God loves us.
“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.” —John 3:16-17
Jesus died in our place.
“When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners.” —Romans 5:6
Jesus is the only way for us to have a relationship with God.
Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” —John 14:6
Believe and receive Jesus.
But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. —John 1:12
