Are there days when it feels like everyone has abandoned you? Are there days where you seldom feel like you’re hearing God. Remember, God has not disappeared. He is there with you and he loves you. God always has your back.
What can people actually do to us? They can stain our reputations and God fully knows all hearts. They can stand in the way of opportunity and God opens doors that no man can close. They can steal our earthly goods, but God is our true treasure. They can restrict our physical freedom, but God’s Spirit is unchained. They can hinder or take our jobs, but God is our Provider. They can even kill our body and they cannot touch our souls.
So the next time we feel threatened by someone’s words or ways, let us resist the fear of people by remembering these two truths:
- The person that stands before us is human.
- The One that stands behind us is God.
Help us, O God of our salvation, For the glory of Your name; And deliver us, and provide atonement for our sins, For Your name’s sake!
May He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness.
—2 Corinthians 9:10
For the Lord will go ahead of you; yes, the God of Israel will protect you from behind.

– Isaiah 41:10
“Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.” – Psalm 23:4
And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you. No, I will not abandon you as orphans–I will come to you.
– John 14:16-18
For the LORD your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.
– Zephaniah 3:17
