Layers: Uncovering and Celebrating God’s Original Idea of Me
Once upon a time we were innocent children, free just to be ourselves. Then we got hurt. And in our attempt to avoid pain, we began surrounding ourselves with layers of protection. This is not to say that all layers are bad; but sometimes, Sandi says, “The layers become barricades, preventing us from feeling loved as we want and need.”
She should know. Sandi’s coped with childhood trauma, poor choices, and more . . . and in the process, she built up a lot of layers. But now she’s peeling them back to find the person God created her to be – and so can you.
It’s not a quick fix, by any means; more like a lifelong process. But totally worth it.
Layers is a candid account of Sandi’s ‘unpeeling.’ As you read her story, you’ll probably identify with some things (not so much with others) and get ideas and encouragement for healing your own hurts. Sandi echoes the Apostle Paul, who said in Philippians 3, “By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I’ve got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward – to Jesus. I’m off and running, and I’m not turning back.”
Read Layers and say “Yes” to Sandi’s invitation to “Peel back the layers, listen for God’s voice singing your song into your life, and rediscover the original, marvelous you He created you to be.” |
