“Dem bones,
dem bones, dem dry bones . . . hear the word of
the Lord.”
Patsy Clairmont echoes the old spiritual in her
new book, Dancing Bones. The title
(and the song) refer to the story in
Ezekiel 37 about a valley of dead, dry bones that
comes to
life at God’s command.
And what does that
have to do with us?
Look around: are
you viewing life from atop a mountain or deep in
a valley? Truth is, we spend most of our
time in the lower levels, dealing with daily life
and hoping we can hang on until the next ‘mountain
top’ experience. But as Patsy says, “Mountaintop
views are breathtaking, while valley views are
life-giving.”
She should know. Patsy’s
put in considerable valley time herself. She uses
the wisdom gained there plus stories from other ‘valley
girls’ to teach us how to find grace, freedom,
and even a sense of humor in the midst of turmoil. Since
it’s a Patsy book, Dancing Bones will
make you laugh – and it’ll make you
think. Before you know it, your own dry bones
may pull off a pirouette or two.
You might just
find that life in the valley isn’t so bad
after all.

lively in the valley” today with Dancing
Bones.
